Against Grace 'Monday' live with doethepaperboy 7-17-10

Introduction to my Blog

Hip Hop is more than just music it’s a very trendy culture that helps shape many minds and is an influential lifestyle.  True supporters of the Hip Hop movement understand that not just anyone can relate to it, or its forever changing identity.  A culture such as Hip Hop was born out of a struggle which many individuals who are not familiar with these hardships could ever understand.  Some think that this movement is trouble and only promotes violent and obscene behavior.   This may seem to be a true observation at first glance but you have to understand the entire urban culture to relate.  Many of the things discussed in these lyrics are things that actually happen on a daily basis in our neighborhoods and to a set of virgin ears they may seem extreme.  Although these things do take place I am not saying that I condone the use of these types of lyrics or that I don’t condone, the presentation format is of personal choice.  My only observation would be to say those artists who do come of rather extreme may limit the crowds that are willing to embrace this culture, which could ultimately lead to mediocre sales and a limited longevity.  The evolution of Hip Hop is something that happened rather fast and before anyone knew what they had it was a fully operational machine.  This machine was used to influence many culture of life in both a negative and positive way.  I challenge any emerging artist to study this culture and learn to fully embrace it before you allow the trends of Hip Hop’s current path influence your movement.  As a MC I have been a student of Hip Hop since the early 80’s and have observed this progression.  My movement in its self is truly one with a unique purpose V.A.S.K with stands for Vision, Ambition, Strength, and Knowledge.  Our purpose is to educate and influence the culture to look at things in a more positive light….. I hope you enjoyed my introductory Blog and many more will be coming soon “4EVASHAWN”
